Peter has 18 years Health and Safety enforcement as a Principal Inspector, responsible for ensuring the legal compliance of over 2,000 premises in a wide range of industries.

5 Years as a European Health and Safety Manager at FedEx Parcels – responsible for over 14,000 employees and 3,000 vehicles and 50 daily aeroplane movements in 8 European countries

Our Policy

It is the policy of AM Support Services Limited to take all reasonably practicable steps to provide and maintain a safe and healthy working environment wherever the Company’s staff or representatives work, for our staff, our customers and third parties using those facilities under our control or influence.

Our objectives of helping our customers to achieve their corporate goals, the development of our people, continuous improvement and profitable growth, are not in conflict with good safety practices.  On the contrary, a good safety record is of benefit to our business, while a safe and healthy environment protects and encourages people, our most important asset.
At all times, relevant statutory requirements shall be complied with.  These shall be considered to be the minimum standard and where reasonably practicable will be exceeded when it is necessary to meet the spirit of this policy.

It is management’s duty to ensure that staff are informed and receive adequate health and safety training.  Tasks shall only be allocated to staff capable of fulfilling them in a manner safe to themselves and others.  All staff are required to understand their health and safety responsibilities and duties and to carry them out with the same diligence as any other task.  Nothing is more important than safety.
Our policy is to formally assess potential risks and through good organisation, planning, communication and by applying reasonably practicable measures, eliminate or minimise those risks.

Each individual is duty bound to act in a safe manner.  No staff or sub-contractor shall knowingly endanger themselves or others by their own acts or omissions.

The Managing Director of AM Support Services Limited:
  Holds ultimate responsibility for the Health and Safety Policy and for ensuring its effective implementation.
Directors, Managers and Staff shall ensure that:

  • The Customer’s and AM Support Services Limited Safety Policies are implemented through formal liaison with the Customer to ensure effective risk control.
  • They have sufficient understanding of, and implement all statutory regulations.
  • Risk assessments have been carried out and arrangements made to manage risks when required.
  • Workplaces are environmentally safe, and safe working practices are adopted, with specific instructions where necessary.
  • Personnel have adequate skills to perform their work safely.
  • The correct equipment for the task is available and in safe and serviceable condition.
  • All staff know and understand safety policy and specific procedures relating to their work.

All Staff have the responsibility to:

  • Identify potentially unsafe situations or working practices and notify management.
  • Never perform a task that they believe is dangerous or for which they have not received appropriate instructions and equipment to carry out the task safely.
  • Work in a safe manner and in accordance with Safety Instructions, where applicable.
  • Use the proper equipment supplied for the job and use protective equipment when provided.

The Policy shall be reviewed and updated as necessary to reflect any changes in office and contract activities
 undertaken, and legislative requirements.

The implementation of this Policy requires the unreserved support of each individual
No-one can avoid their personal responsibility for acting in a safe manner and ensuring that others do likewise
