Winter Driving Safety - tips for you.
Monday 19th December 2011
With bad weather forecast for the coming weeks, AM Support Services have pulled the following tips from the Highways Agency, designed to help keep you safe whilst driving this winter: -
Check your vehicle is ready for winter and always carry an emergency kit.
Regularly servicing and checking your vehicle is in good running order, before setting out, will reduce your chances of breaking down on the road. It's worth making the following checks regularly - and particularly before a long winter journey:
- Check and replace the anti-freeze in the radiator
- Make sure your lights are clean and check the bulbs
- Ensure your windscreen is clean (inside and outside)
- Replace the battery if it's not reliable
- Ensure your tyres are correctly inflated and replace them before the tread has reached the legal minimum.
Your Emergency Kit
Just gather together the items below and pack in the car at the start of the winter season. You never know when you might need them. Your emergency kit should include:
- Ice scraper and de-icer
- Torch and spare batteries - or a wind-up torch
- Warm clothes and blankets - for you and all passengers
- Boots
- First aid kit
- Jump leads
- A shovel
- Road atlas
- Sunglasses (the glare off snow can be dazzling)
Before each journey in severe weather
- Clear any snow and ice from all windows, lights and number plates. Make sure you can see clearly and be seen.
- Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged - but don't use while driving.
- Take some food and a warm drink in a flask in case you get stuck. Don't forget to take any personal medication too!
We hope that you found this information to be useful.

Seven Seas goes from strength to strength
Monday 2nd August 2010
AM Support Services are delighted to report that the contract to clean the head office and full production facilities of Seven Seas in Hull continues to deliver real benefits to the client
A significant three-year contract began in July with Seven Seas, the UK’s number one producer of vitamins, minerals and supplements.
Seven Seas’ headquarters and full production facilities are based in Hull, and AM Support Services has the contract to clean all of its offices, laboratories, capsule production areas and warehousing across its twelve-acre site.
Our offer of a full no-chemical cleaning service for the company’s capsule production plant and equipment areas was a key factor in our success with this bid.
The no-chemical cleaning process uses electrically charged new-water to clean production floor areas, which are then vacuum dried within seconds. Whilst production equipment and difficult to reach areas are steam cleaned.
For any manufacturing plant concerned with the processing of foods and other digestive products a no-chemical approach to cleaning is essential. In addition, the statutory and logistical considerations that would otherwise be required for the transportation, storage and waste management of chemicals are also eliminated.
A daytime team of AM Support Services staff is responsible for the cleaning of offices, laboratories and warehousing facilities throughout the week, whilst a separate ten-hour five-night team is responsible for the production plant and equipment areas.Seven Seas focuses on mobility, everyday healthcare protection, women's healthcare and children's healthcare through its leading brands such as Seven Seas Cod Liver Oil, JointCare, Multibionta and Haliborange,
Formed more than 70 years ago by a consortium of East Yorkshire trawler owners who had grown up knowing cod liver oil's health reputation and who saw the market potential, the brand is now recognised the world over as being at the forefront of the UK vitamin, mineral and supplement (VMS) market.

AM achieves BSI 14001 Environmental Accreditation
Tuesday 5th January 2010
What a great start for 2010, on 4th January we received confirmation of our award for British Standard ISO 14001 for our environmental management standards.
We were up against some tough and rigorous standards, and meeting our objectives to reduce waste, energy usage and carbon emissions required the implementation of many new management objectives. But knowing our carbon footprint is hugely important for our business in today’s world, and we’re also able to boast that only 14% of our waste goes to landfill, a level that we’re hoping to reduce even further. The 14001 processes have had a major impact upon our business, specifically looking at areas of improvement, and along with this has been the added benefit of seeing reduced costs.
Moving forwards AM Support Services is working towards the BSI ISO 18001 for Health and Safety. We’ll then be the only cleaning and FM business in Lancashire to have been awarded all three BSI accreditations! Thanks for all of your support!Wythenshawe Shopping Centre award 3 year contract to AM
